Storm and Her Dirty Mouth

Storm is the only girl I’ve met who’s taken it at as compliment when I’ve said "You have a dirty mouth!" Don’t worry, she’s also the only one I’ve ever said that to.

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Storm & Her Dirty Mouth perform three times now, and I get more excited before each show. Storm is the lead singer and she’s such a great talent. Her singing ranges from soft whispers to loud powerful melodies. She knows how to entertain a crowd and she’s very free in what she says as well as what she wears (or doesn’t wear.) The music is a varied type of alternative rock. The songwriting is mature, and the band is extremely tight.

Storm & Her Dirty Mouth released a six-song self-titled EP CD (say that five times fast!) last year which contains a diverse group of songs: "I’m not Alright" is a folk-based tune with strong pop melodies. "Lust" is more of a ballad and characteristic of how this band builds up a song from beginning to end. "Superman" is my fave. This one really proves Storm’s vocal range and there’s a lot of cool guitar parts too. It starts slow and just builds and builds, and performed live, it really kicks ass. "Ima Yora" is a blues/rock number and also a killer live tune. It starts with Storm whispering, "She’s a whore", and from that point on, the song just explodes. "Geraldine" is a more mellow tune, but it’s still got a good beat, and the song carries itself with a strong melody. "Crazy Love" is a groove-based song, and it shows that this band is capable of pulling anything off.
