"Mom is Cooking" is a verifiable, working class dive. Most of the folks who were sitting in there when we arrived at 8pm looked like they just got off a construction site -- including the waiters. If you don't speak Spanish, expect slow service (I speak Spanish and I attribute that to the modicum of service we received).
Most of the entrees were not veggie friendly, service was slow and not at all attentive. The ambience is definitely El Paso roadhouse/dive -- so if you go in, order a couple beers per person, some chips and appetizers and enjoy it.
If your mom cooked lots of meat, overcooked any veggies and used lots of grease, then you'll feel right at home here.
