Jim Campilongo and the 10 Gallon Cats

Above Paradise

February 4, 11, 18, and 25

Jim Campilongo may have been one of the Bay Area's best kept secrets until now, but for the month of February, Paradise Lounge is letting the cat out of the bag, so to speak.

'Who is Jim Campilongo?' you might ask. Well he's the coolest cat in town. He's a guitar player highly-regarded amongst his peers. He's written for Guitar Player Magazine and been reviewed in Billboard Magazine. Sharply-dressed, laid-back, and smooth-talkin', he fronts a country-jazz instrumental ensemble that could grab your listening attention for hours on end. In addition to country and jazz, the musical style also borrows from swing, waltz, and blues. Campilongo's guitar playing is incredibly clean and polished, and whether his fingers dance along the neck of his Telecaster, or barely appear to be moving, he pulls off some brilliant guitar melodies.

And what better way is there to accompany this fretboard master, than with an honest to goodness accordion player! You may think 'Accordion?' at first, but once you've seen this band perform, you'll wonder why there aren't more accordion players out there. Together with bass and drums they put on a fine show - one that's worth coming back for every week.

If you've ever been upstairs at Paradise, otherwise known as Above Paradise, you'll know that this intimate venue is great place for mingling or sitting back and listening to some good tunes. Jim Campilongo and the 10 Gallon Cats will be providing the entertainment there from 9:30 till 1:00 AM every Thursday night during February. Special guests, Eric McFadden, Johnny Dilks, Ralph Carney and Chuck Prophet, will also be dropping by throughout his stay.
