First off, I have no idea what happened to Parks Farmers Market 1. On one recent visit, I asked the amicable woman behind the counter of its origins. Let's just say she gave me a look as if I committed a blasphemy. I guess some questions are left best unanswered. Don't be intimidated by the pretentious Yancy's regulars who seem to thrive around this humble little produce store, because you can walk in and come out with two bags of produce for well under $10. Onions, bell peppers, oranges and some genuine produce oddities await you here. And if you live in the Sunset or you're busy on Wednesday or Saturday, this place sure beats having to go all the way the hell out to the Farmer's Market. The best time to go here is sometime on a weekday afternoon, when Parks is generally a virtual people desert. Grab yourself a basket and load up on some goods. Revel in the small pleasures a simple Red Delicious Apple can give you. Who knows? Maybe some people take produce for granted. But for those who revel in making pasta with tons of goodies inside, Parks is your mecca. Edward Champion
