Right around the corner is the Potrero Hill Brewing Company.

Lunch in Jerry Brown's Oakland can be akin to dining in a strip mall. Resist the chain stores in the City Center Food Court—a little further afield is a smorgasbord of ethnic food choices run by folks who ought to know. My favorite is Cam Huong (pronounced "cam hung"). It is a narrow, crowded little Vietnamese deli crammed with spring rolls and other goodies made on the premises. Don't even look at the display case; just ask for the chicken sandwich. This ostensibly humble house specialty is heaped with tender roasted chicken and parboiled julienne vegetables in a savory sauce with fresh cilantro all served on a crusty baguette that melts in your mouth. Watch out for the "pepper"—fresh sliced chili peppers can be an unexpected burst of heat. At $2 a sandwich, this has got to be one of the best deals going.
