April 12th, League of Women Voters Presents 1999 Women Who Could Be President Luncheon in San Francisco
|
1. Are you considering raising Muni fares as an option to pay for improvements? Earlier this year, the Muni Task Force that I convened presented me with a comprehensive list of recommendations designed to improve Muni as we know it. One of the recommendations included a possible Muni fare hike in the future. I am here to tell you, fares will remain the same until riders see an improvement in service. 2. Do you ever wear T-shirts and jeans around the house or do you dress all spiffily first thing in the morning everyday?
3. When was the last time that you took a walk in the Presidio? I can't remember. 4. Are there any republicans that you respect? Yes, Jack Kemp 5. Is it ever okay to kiss on the first date? Some of my friends say it is but I don't know what to believe. Please tell me the truth. There's nothing wrong with a simple kiss (on the cheek) goodbye on the first date. 6. How do you intend to continue to make San Francisco attractive to technology companies? Many start ups can no longer afford the cost of office rent in the City and so have moved to other neighboring towns. Does this concern you? San Francisco is quickly becoming a technology Mecca. The truth is that we are attracting more hi-tech companies than any major city. 7. Don't you think that the square in front of City Hall looks a little bare these days with those plucked trees?
8. What has been the most frustrating obstacle so far in the Bay Bridge? Conflicting ideas on the design, and the lack of an even a comprehensive study to bring back light rail to the bridge. 9. How do you intend to use the power of the Internet as a form of communication in the upcoming election? Do you have someone who advises on this mode of communication specifically? (If not, why not? And where can we send our resumes?) I think the Internet is great way to get out any message. However, my campaign is not yet up and running. When that time comes, please feel free to send in your resume. 10. Does the City of SF have a mentoring program for kids who are aspiring politicians? Yes, we have many programs designed for youth. During the summer months, I have the Mayor's Page program, where high school aged youth can actively work in my administration in different departments. 11. List three websites that you enjoy: 12. What do you love about the Internet? It's certainly a lot faster than the old days when you had to sift through so many books just to do your research. What do you hate about it? The digital divide. I think the only think that I dislike about the Internet is that many families are not connected because they don't have access to a computer. 13. Your thoughts on women smoking cigars? Whatever is your flavor. 14. Do you ever anticipate the price of housing to go down? It depends on who you ask. I think we are seeing some signs that prices are slowly leveling off. 15. What do you do for exercise? I run the greatest City on the planet- San Francisco. Do you have questions for the our Mayor? Send them on in! Letters may be edited for length and clarity, and may be published on the POSTHOC.com website. citydoyen@posthoc.com |
