the hip 'n' happenin' bar to be seen, The Bubble Lounge is just buzzing
with the straight(ish) BP's of San Francisco. Ladies, this is the place
to go if you'd like to see the ratio tipped in your favor for once in
San Francisco. The lounge is located down at the North Beach end of the
Financial District and often has lovelies overflowing out onto the sidewalk.

4/1/00 Update Another visit back to the Bubble Lounge reaffirms that this is the place to go for a luxurious evening. I like this bar: it's dark, it has more champagne than I have unpaired socks and the chairs say Come sink your tooshie into me, Baby! All in all, a welcome relief from anything in the Mission. SMB

The drinks du jour are, guess what, champagne and cheapy sparkling wine though you'd do best to avoid the latter if you want to keep your street cred intact in any way whatsoever with this dazzling crowd. Keep your eyes in their sockets when you see prices for a bottle of bubbly over $400. That's the fun of the place, the pure extravagance of it all. The bar is very dark and roomy with cozy corners to chat up that investment banker you just met, who by the way, just bought a plane and is jetting out of town tomorrow. You'll feel out of place arriving in your Patagonia and your Birks so leave those at home for your next trip over to Marin and dig deeper in your closet for something just a little bit spiffier. This is a must-go-to place before it loses it's fizz. (Hours are Monday-Friday, 3pm-2am, Saturday, 5pm-2am, Closed on Sunday).
