Bootcamp SF

Do you get winded carrying your Guinness back from the bar to your table? Do you have to lie on your back, say a brief prayer, and suck in hard to zip up your jeans? Are you thinking Roseanne is looking skinny these days?

Time to sign up for Bootcamp SF.

Really, it isn't scary. It sounds a tad more threatening than it is. I can assure you, a gymload of almost naked people staring at themselves into the mirrors is far more terrifying than an hour with Stevan and Keith. These two fellows have put together a fun hour long program that includes the whole shebang of fitness: stretching, strengthening & toning, and cardiac running around and jumping up and down. Classes are small; you feel like they are your own personal trainers but adding some other folks in the class makes it far more entertaining than it would be on your own. Plus, you have Golden Gate Park at your disposal which is where Bootcamp currently takes place (though they're expected to expand into Dolores Park and Marina).

Whatever your fitness level, you'll fit in. From the chronically unfit to the obsessive triathlete, you'll be challenged but not killed. Personally, I wasn't really interested in any challenging (I run daily already), I just wanted an excuse to get up at some unsociable hour and run around the Park.

What struck me most about Bootcamp SF is how much Stevan and Keith listen to you. They want to know if you hurt somewhere, what injuries you've had, and what your goals you're striving towards. You can sign up on a drop-in basis, or sign up for the entire session. Check out their site for more information www.bootcampsf.com .
