How to get the most from your blackhead magnetic strips

Susan first posed the question: "Why do people really want to see their blackheads?" For me the answer is simple. For the same reason we look in our Kleenex after blowing our noses. For the same reason we discuss how certain foods come out of our system. For the same reason we inspect a scab after picking it off our knees. We like knowing what disgusting things our body is capable of producing, and, in a way, the grosser the better. I have no other explanation for why a product that promotes seeing your own personal "forest of blackheads" was dubbed "the year's most successful product launch" by The New York Times.

I, for one, was thrilled when The Andrew Jergens Company's Biore took over the drugstores, first with the Nose Strips and, at long last, the New! Face Strips! If you've ever tried using one of the blackhead removers that are a little metal tool with a hole on the flat end, you know what I am talking about. The idea is that you ring your blackhead with the hole, push, and out pops the dirt and grime in a neat little package. The actual result is a sore, demented nose with no fewer pockets of black dirt. I have, in fact, invented Biore Strips millions of times; finally the manufacturing is complete.

So, it's really very easy, as you'll see from the back of the box. 1. Wet nose. 2. Apply strip. 3. Let dry. 4. Remove strip. I have been disappointed at times by what is more like a "smattering" of blackheads than a "forest," so I have a couple of tips to pass along. First, be sure to get your nose really wet. The more water (or beer or juice or whatever), the better the seal. Second, press and smooth over the bridge of your nose and along the sides. Depending on nose shape, the Strip will crinkle to fit, but you want to avoid as many air pockets as possible. Third, let dry for longer than you think necessary, but not so long that it starts peeling off - usually about 12 minutes. Fourth, you need good light to really inspect the Strip. You'll want to touch the unclogged dirt and that's okay, but remember that this little forest is very delicate so rough hands can easily ruin the precious structure. Sometimes a bit of extra C-BondeTM will remain behind, but it is harmless and quickly washes away.

For those of you without blackheads, I highly recommend trying to get some through greasy food and lack of face washing for a couple of weeks. The Biore experience is relaxing, yet stimulating. You not only get a dirt free nose, but a whole new topic of conversation for your next cocktail party.
