Phaedra Schroeder _______________________ Writer Phaedra Schroeder readily admits to having more hates than loves. She happens to love reading and has worked in bookstores for the past seven years. She reads mainly fiction and writes mainly non-fiction. Favorite writers include Anne Lamott, Tim Sandlin, Alice Munro, Barbara Kingsolver, Nick Hornby, Anna Quindlen, Jay McInerney and David Sedaris. She believes Sedaris’ “Santaland Diaries” is the funniest piece of writing ever published. Topping Phaedra’s list of hates are chain bookstores such as Barnes and Noble and Borders Books whom she believes embody all evil in the world. Her favorite bookstores are Bookshop Santa Cruz in Santa Cruz, the Book Seller in Grass Valley, CA, and Green Apple Books in SF and hopes you will find your own special independent bookstore to support. Phaedra moved to San Francisco in May because good things have happened in this city for other people she knows and likes, and she is hoping for similiar results. She also loves the 49ers and feels close to them just by moving here. More important to Phaedra are the Beastie Boys who she would like to meet once before she dies. She says the Beasties make her life partially worthwhile.
