Would I go again? Oh yes. My most recent visit was such a treat that I can't wait to go back again soon. Ambiance: Unfussy white walls, and candlelit. Walking by it, it's hard to not want to be inside tucking into the delicious treats. (The building that the restaurant is in used to be the dairy to Kensington Palace). Crowd: Dates, and double dates, well-to-do Kensington folks, and well off foreign students on those dates. Best: Looking at the menu and realising that you actually are quite keen to tuck into Polish food. Kicking off the meal with a carafe of icy house-infused vodka certainly moves the evening in the right direction. (The spicy orange is delicious .. the hint of cloves wrapping around your tongue so you find yourself going back time and time again). A plate of mixed smoked fish went down finely served with blinis which were puffy and airy. But by far the absolute knock out of the meal was the enormous pork shank which was one of the best piggy dishes either of us had ever bit into. Crispy on the outside, succulent inside, and nestled into a bed of lip-smackin' sauerkraut. I would travel across an ocean to have this again. Soon! Worst: Slight language barrier with the waitstaff. But is this a problem? Hardly. March 2008 |
