Number 11

11 Cadogan Gardens, London, SW3

Would I go again? Again and again.

Ambience: In the midst of change from Country Life shabby to SoHo House NYC dark and designy.

Crowd: Bit of a mix. During Fashion Week, Italian fashion editors. The rest of the time, a mix of Continentals, Americans and those who gave up the city house, ma deah!

Best: The staff are full-on easy-going without being over-bearing, tiresome or snooty. The rooms are comfy and cosy, and all a little bit different. The tattered portraits are fun for atmosphere. The location can't be beat (right off Sloane Square): it's both central, near the tube (Circle & District), within a stone's throw of flats people (Ok, rather well off people) actually live in, and has a good array of restaurants all within ten minutes walk. And if you are needing to meet with locals, the hotel is a good spot to have folks come to you as there are plenty of places to sit and meet. The cappuccinos are heavenly! For those who might want to gather a crowd, rent out one of the two suites for the evening and have a party. The staff will look after you and your guests.

Worst: Ongoing upgrades. Regulars do not like change.
